With advanced biomedical diagnosis techniques, researchers can produce potential disease treatments faster than ever. So why do they take so long to get to the market?  

Flow cytometry is one of the most common clinical and lab testing techniques used to detect biomarkers in blood or suspension media. This highly efficient technique can examine thousands of blood cells per second, with the potential to identify more than 30 types of cell structures simultaneously. Testing on cells – lots of them – and looking for changes in just a tiny fraction of them is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Ultimately, the equipment capabilities are constrained by the brightness of the fluorescence signals. 

Value Propositions

Although the flow cytometers are physically designed to run more than 30 colors, only a few are practically used due to 1) spectral overlap, otherwise referred to as “spillover” in the industry and 2) “auto-fluorescence”, the inherent background fluorescence produced by surrounding bio-structures.

StabiLux® makes NovoLux® High-Brightness Dyes™ 2X-1,000X brighter than any commercial product in the industry with substantially sharper peaks, virtually eliminating the spillover and auto-fluorescence problems with other dyes. This allows the instrument to detect signals from any color without instrument modifications. Also, NovoLux® High-Brightness Dyes™ has a novel feature, tunable brightness, meaning the precise increase in brightness of a single color for low abundance cells can be made without affecting other signals. This allows researchers to detect what was previously undetectable.

Our product differentiators include high-brightness, sharp peaks, tunable brightness for specific cells, a drop-in technology compatible with existing instrumentation, excellent water solubility, ease of conjugation, and chemical and photostability.

NovoLux Technology

StabiLux® enables faster development of medical treatments by offering NovoLux® High-Brightness Dyes™ used in flow cytometers.

Many traditional dyes are not bright enough to detect low abundance markers (which could be important for understanding disease or pathway), leading the signal for those cells falls below the cytometer system noise level.  For many treatments and diseases, traditional dyes are not bright enough to detect the target cells.  

Our Novolux® technology is completely out of the mainstream and unlike other dyes that solely depend on the fluorescent dye brightness, we use a novel patent-protected nanotube to carry a few or many dyes.  Our platform technology can allow for imaging inside the cell, on the cell, and for messages between cells (Exosomes/ extravesicular vehicles). Extremely High Brightness

NovoLux® high-brightness dyes™ are orders of magnitude brighter than traditional dyes so that even the rarest condition stands out above the cytometer noise level and enable rare cells to be detected.

Novel Feature-Tunable Brightness

With our NovoLux® high-brightness dye™ technology, we can adjust (or tune) the dye brightness between 2 to 1,000X brighter than regular dyes, to allow many disease markers to be detected, giving patients an accurate diagnosis or a researcher confirmation for a new therapy.
